These included almost every major studio, producer, and actor/actresses. This long sequence of names is it give credit to each of the branches of filming at the beginning rather than only at the end. 2. What connotations do the images carry? (How do you they make you feel) The opening scene had many different characters from the Pokémon series which made many people feel excited and happy to see their favorites up there. Combined with to bright lively colors making the person feel energetic, this and the effects create a sense of nostalgia for the people watching the film.  3. How is genre reinforced through symbolic and technical codes from the outset? (Can you tell what genre the film is)  Already when people (especially fans) see a Pokémon game they know it's going to be an action fi

The nighttime atmosphere makes the viewer feel the sense of not knowing what sin the dark. The lights shifting in and out in a fast-paced way creates a pumped-up feeling. 3. How is genre reinforced through symbolic and technical codes from the outset? 1. How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film? Which ones? This opening has four sequences the producer Warner Brothers and universal pictures, then the studio and finally the name of the movie "Twister." It showed three studios and companies in synergy to create this film. Having the studios shows all the people and companies that have put time and effort in the movie. 2. What connotations do the images carry? (How do you they make you feel) The dark atmosphere mixed with the cloudy fog in the background creates tension as the display titles come up. The clouds persist and the movement get faster and faster until debris is spinning as if your in a tornado, this makes one feel anxious as the storm moves in. This paired with the music that gets more intense as the scene shows, it increases the feeling of anxiety. Also, the name of the movie inscentifies that the film will be about a twister and with that opening scene that it could get intense. The

     1. How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film? Which ones? There are only two titles displays plus the title of the movie at the end of the sequence. The two titles displayed are who produced the movie and who directed the movies and then the title, "Mission Impossible ll." They put the two most important roles of production in the director and the producers. 2. What connotations do the images carry? (How do you they make you feel) The flashing lights and images in the opening make it seem like a fast pace hyper movie. The Music being rock and roll making seem cool and like an action movie along with the images making the audience feel a rush. The fast pace of the whole scene creates an excited feeling the combination of all the factors. Also, at the start of the scene it shows the actor throwing a pair of sunglasses at the camera as if they are tossing it to you as if including the audience creating a connection. I started to research what opening scenes of movies to get an idea of what I should do, I looked at some of my favorite movies that connect with my genre. Some of the movies include the movie Fury, Mission Impossible, and 007 all had unique opening scenes, but I needed something with more option than the films I could think of. Then after some time passes, I found a website that has everything I need  Forget the Film, Watch the Titles!  was perfect because it had so many options to choose from. Some of the movies I had never even heard of and seeing the opening sequence made me want to watch them. This website had different opening scenes of many critically acclaimed films and information about the film making my job a little bit easier and being a huge time saver. The

Genre Research Fury

Image
Fury is about a Sherman tank squad pushing through the French countryside in WW2. This movie was one of my all-time favorites with the message and the effects made it amazing. The hard to watch moments and the gritty aspect of war makes it an interesting movie. Some of the camera angles and movements used were wide shots to get the whole scene in a far wide view, long shots to get the main characters and enemy in shot, point of view/over the shoulder shots to get the perspective of the driver and the commander in the battle, eve level shots to see the actor's emotions during the action, and tracking shots to follow the tanks advancing to the enemy. The costumes worn were from the time period and are supplemented by the makeup worn to show wounds or dirt. The lighting is mostly dark to show a gritty sad tale as the movie's progressives. The props including real tanks and weapons all to the time period. The sounds used were ambient sound of a warzone in the distance to armies ma

Genre Research Battle Los Angeles

This movie is about the Modern-day world under and alien invasion and the U.S is under attack on their west coast and it's up to the military to stop it. This film showed incredible scenes and heartbreaking moments. This movie composed mostly of the side of the Americans and rarely show the alien side with point of view and over the shoulder shots to get the boots on the ground perspective. Also, high angles were used to show the superiority of the aliens when fight the troops, along with long shots to show the scene in front and the characters. Low angles were used to show the Americans at a disadvantage and truck shots to shift from one spot to another as if you're searching for something. The costumes used are what the U.S military would wear at the time and most of the time the lighting was dark which represented no hope but when a solution was presented the lighting brightened up. The makeup was as if they were in a battle for hours and props were accurate to the time. Al

The movie "Midway" (2019) is about a famous battle in WWII that change the tide of war in 1942, with the U.S destroying the main Japanese carrier fleet effectively changing the course of the war. This movie shows fantastic visuals and effects.  Some of the camera angles used were the aerial shot to unveil the armada of ships below, Low/High camera angles to show the scene from different views like low for showing destruction and high to show dominance, point of view to represent what the actor sees in the movement, eye level shots to reveal facial expressions, long shots to show the character and what he is up against, and wide shots to get the whole picture. Some camera movements are tracking/panning to follow the action and slowing revealing something in the scene and, zoom to get a close up of the action. The costumes were generally used from the time period to have the feeling of being in the 1940s. The makeup felt as if we were in WW2 and the props were up to date. This

Final decision-Action

I chose the action genre for my opening scene film. Action movies have always peaked my interests with the plot the scene and how they are crafted just make it so perfect. This option is the easiest this action movies have more of my style. Action movie more, so war movies have always grabbed my attention because I love to study history and wars. The atmosphere of the movies just checks all the boxes for me and now that I can create and opening scene to one, I'm all hands on. I already have a great idea of what my opening on my action movie will be. Some of the ones that inspired me were "Hacksaw Ridge" and "Midway" which I loved and learned about. I know how war movies are portrayed, as gritty harsh warzones with empty atmospheres. This experience will help me make a better opening that is more enjoyable to make.  Action was my chose over the other two because I could get much more creative than I could if I was doing horror or drama. I do not watch many drama

Action movies is among the most used genre in the film making industry because people love seeing fight scene and battles that could never happen in real life. Action is about danger and fast-paced scenes that get people interested.  Each of these movies are different in their own respected way, but many of them use the same camera angles, camera movements, mis-en-scene, the sound in the film, and the editing they use. The camera angles used are jump cuts to show the action going on in different points of the scene, high/ low shots to view the villain or hero in the power stance or defeated, point of view shots to see what the subjects sees, and wide shot to get the whole scene in one shot. Camera movements are tracking shots for chases so the viewer can always see what's going on, establishing shots to unveil the location of the action, and panning which allows the camera to move to reveal more to the scene. The Music is supposed to fit what is happening either suspense or as sad

Drama is all about the plot and all the twists and turns that come along with it. Conflicts and plot devices are what make these movies so interesting to watch.  Each of these movies are different in their own respected way, but many of them use the same camera angles, camera movements, mis-en-scene, the sound in the film, and the editing they use.  Some of the most common camera angles are wide shots to show the whole scene so the viewer can see everything, close/extreme close ups to unveil the characters emotion and to give off a certain feeling. Some have establishing shots to show the location which could lead to other factors. Some camera movements are zooms to show a character's body language or facial features in a scene, a pan to reveal something the actors sees or dramatic irony, and tilt to introduce a character in a dramatic fashion.  The edits used in drama varies, but they still have common ground like using jump cuts to show different action points like arguments and

Horror movies all have their own sort of style, but they all have their similarities. A high angle is most often to show the victim as powerless and weak. Close up shot are commonly used to show the monster or the subject's facial expression and how horrified they were seeing the monster, on the other side of the spectral long shots are used to expose the killer down a hallway or street. Dutch angles are used to create a feel of uneasy and pair with music could make a scary scene. The lighting is usually always dark quiet location that is abandoned like a hospital. Props are weapons, blood and other props according to the location of the movie. The clothing would depend on location, but it usually be torn have blood on it or the clothing being dirty. They edit jump cuts to add suspense or scare the viewer, and also cut away to hide the terror of what happens, an example would be something happens to a subject then its cutaway. The sound is use it unique because horror movies mostl

My Pitch

Image
Pitch 1: A group of teenagers are out camping and have to escape from a creature that can move through the ground.  Pitch 2: A platoon of forgotten soldiers making their last stand against the German army in the final months of the Great War. I would be interested in making the movie for pitch 1; I live close to forest so filming will be easier. I generally don't like horror movies but a creature that can appear anywhere seems interesting. The way the monster moves through the ground could create the words and names in the opening scene. I live close to the everglades so the monster could be a mutant gator or man gator. This movie idea could be cool, but I have something in mind that's better.  The idea for pitch 2 is about unknow soldiers in the Great War holding a last stand in the forests of France. I love this idea because I am huge history nerd and making a war film will be a dream come true. The opening scene could be soldiers desperately trying to get back to their line
