Editing resources

Image
Before I finished up filming, I needed an editing software so I could finish the project. I had to search the web for one and it was very challenging since the different types of software. Some of them have watermarks of the software making it bad and branded. Others would work and had a large subscription fee, and I could not export them. Many others did not work, and I could not connect my files to the software making it useless to me. I needed a software that was easy to use and would take to much time since my schedules are full. I had to learn all on my own with the program I would use from experimenting. Watching YouTube videos helped me get a basic understanding down since most of the programs are formatted the same. I ask friends and family to help teach me how to edit and had no luck. My computer was also an issue due to the fact that it was old and lacking storage so I had to get rid of things on my computer or upgrade and that was not an option. I did have access to Adobe p

A rework

Image
During spring break, we were unable to film due to one of our actors being out on family business. I couldn't get anyone one else to take his place because no one wanted to do work during spring break. Instead, I decided to change up some of the aspects of the film to iron out some of the confusing and hard to pull off parts. I spoke will my other actor to discuss some of these areas of concern and collectively decided to change the ending, dialogue, and the music. I wanted to change how the music is implemented from an overlay over everything to adding it at different times. I felt a bit too ambitious with the ending adding explosions, so we are going to change it to create a more real feeling. Also, the addition of a third person as a camera man is important because we need someone to hold the camera. This rework is not a full reset its purpose is to fix the details I have made overly complicated. This time I have scheduled another date to film, and they must make that time. I h

Disaster Struck

Image
Bad news has just reached me today. We would be able to film for most of the weekend and a few days into spring break because of a golf tournament at the golf course where we are filming.  The worst part is that it would have been a perfect day being not blazing hot and the forecast stating that no rain will occur. We can't even film after since it progresses from the early morning to before sunset. Our film needed to have nature lighting and be outside. If we were to film, it would have been very difficult to make sure everyone wasn't in the way and make sure no one got lost. The film would have been ruined if we were to film on those days. In addition the hazel of finding a spot and being alone will be impossible. Although the plan for the tournament is that it should end around midweek (Wednesday), but it's not completely set in stone.  This set back might make it hard to film since we were all free over the week. They were all usual busy and getting them to free up a we

Selecting my music

Image
The music I needed to use had to be from that era, so it will be from 1944 and anything before it. So, I had to research both on the internet and YouTube to find a song that will work, but I ended up using both in the process. I would find videos on YouTube and check online to see if they were loyalty free, and most of the ones I saw were. Since it was in 1944 and beyond the copyright expired it was easier to find a song I could use. I had to use a song from this period, mainly because it fits with the theme of a WW2 story. Also, it would not make sense to have a modern rap. It would ruin the appeal of the film with the scene starting with the intro and it would look terrible. One of the songs I wanted to use was "I don't want to set the world on fire" by The Ink Spots which was perfect because it created the feeling of war. Also, the attitude of the soldiers not wanting to be there and fighting a war. Another song " We'll Meet Again" by Vera Lynn, this son

Working on the props, costume, setting, acting, and make up

This opening scene needed so many props to fulfill the vision I have to make this film. Since my movie is a war movie it needs guns (not real) that the soldiers will carry throughout the film. I will need to make or get large radios to act as both for music for the film and as a way to talk to the other character. I already had a paintball gun to use, and the other actors had toy guns so, we were set on that. The radio is what I had to search for because any modern Bluetooth radio would look out of place so we had to search from thrift stores to pawn shops I could not find one. If I can't find one then I will have to make or turn something into what looks like a radio, but the search continues. The wardrobe is more complex, and I had to think of what we would wear. I had to consider where the war would take place along with the setting we had and pick an outfit to wear. Helmets were needed to give the appearance of a solider, I had a helmet that had 2 pieces so it could act as 2 h

The beginning of a new project

Image
Starting this project, I began to create the sounds for the film. The explosions and the gunfire used I had to create it from scratch. I had to get creative with it so I used leftover fireworks to see if they work, using sounds I could create, and sounds that my computer can make. The plane sounds I to use I could easily make considering I live close an airport. The ambient forest sounds should be easy because the area I am filming has a lot of wildlife. Some of these sounds like explosions are going to be hard to replicate and properly insert into the film. I was thinking I could use M80 firecrackers and record the sound and amplify it, but it most likely would sound weird and out of place. For the planes I just went to the airport got close to one of the propeller planes and recorded the sound and watched it fly way. With this it helps me edit with the plane sounding like it flies way. On the other hand, I might not even use it because I feel that it doesn't fit, and I will just

StoryBoard

The beginning starts off with an establishing shot of three soldiers and a slight track as they move. Then it switches to a 3 shot medium shot to show the men talking. As the camera follows them. It jumps to a long shot of the of the backs of the men as they walk across a small hill, the camera stands still. The camera jumps back to a medium shot. Of the three men in a heated talk. Then soldier two and soldier one at an eye level medium shot continued to argue. Later that same high eye level medium shot shows the shoulder yell and throw his arm up in the air.  Soldier one then storms off in an eye level medium shot as the third one watches. An over the shoulder shot reveals soldier one talking to soldier two. A low angle close shot of soldier two splitting up the two soldiers. A Jumpcut then reveals the three soldiers' backs, revealing the campsite with a pedestal shot. Scene 2 begins. The camera pans to three soldiers in the. A medium shot of their campsite with a high angle mediu
