1. How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film? Which ones?
The opening sequence had 26 titles displayed and the title of the movie "Pokémon Detective Pikachu". These included almost every major studio, producer, and actor/actresses. This long sequence of names is it give credit to each of the branches of filming at the beginning rather than only at the end.
2. What connotations do the images carry? (How do you they make you feel)
The opening scene had many different characters from the Pokémon series which made many people feel excited and happy to see their favorites up there. Combined with to bright lively colors making the person feel energetic, this and the effects create a sense of nostalgia for the people watching the film.
3. How is genre reinforced through symbolic and technical codes from the outset? (Can you tell what genre the film is)
Already when people (especially fans) see a Pokémon game they know it's going to be an action film. The music and the nature of Pokémon games recreates that feeling of action and adventure. The music in the opening is the adventure music in the games so people will feel that action pack scenes are to come. The comic book and old game style gives the idea of an action movie
4. What conventions are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience?
The target audience is kids or some that love Pokémon. The old comic and game themes throughout the opening draw in the old fans that love the game. The style of how superheroes movies are so it would appeal more to the younger audience. Also, the music is very old school making it nostalgia for those veteran fans.
