Selecting my music

The music I needed to use had to be from that era, so it will be from 1944 and anything before it. So, I had to research both on the internet and YouTube to find a song that will work, but I ended up using both in the process. I would find videos on YouTube and check online to see if they were loyalty free, and most of the ones I saw were. Since it was in 1944 and beyond the copyright expired it was easier to find a song I could use. I had to use a song from this period, mainly because it fits with the theme of a WW2 story. Also, it would not make sense to have a modern rap. It would ruin the appeal of the film with the scene starting with the intro and it would look terrible. One of the songs I wanted to use was "I don't want to set the world on fire" by The Ink Spots which was perfect because it created the feeling of war. Also, the attitude of the soldiers not wanting to be there and fighting a war. Another song "We'll Meet Again" by Vera Lynn, this song gives the idea of the soldiers wanting to go back to their wives. These songs are supposed to tell a story that the film doesn't show directly and show different emotions. Both of these songs work, and the decision now lies on whether the story I want to tell is. The first song tells a story of soldiers not wanted to be there fighting a war they didn't start, and they don't want to kill other young men. This one had no copy right because the creators did not renew the license. The second song was more about the personal life of the soldiers. A soldier drafted into a war across the world, for some of them to never see them loved ones again. This song speaks to the audience telling a story that each soldier feels deep down. This song is my favorite out of the two because while the other one explains war this one explains the hearts and minds of the individual soldier. While this song is my choose to be in the film I am still figuring out if it is royalty free due to the fact they some articles say yes and others say no. So, I may have to chose The Ink Spots song until I can find more evidence to use the Vera Lynn song.
