Riding solo

Image
For this project I have decided to work alone. I felt this was necessary because for the last two projects have I have been able to use my idea and just went with the pack. It was also for the experience of working alone and I wanted to know what it is like. I do love to work with others but in times like these I felt that going solo was my best option. I want to incorporate my ideas into my own project, so I can feel more accomplished and feel good about doing it solo. I will potential get help from my family in and active or non active role. In addition to other friends could lend a helping hand to speed up the process. Working alone gives me more flexibility to set my own schedule and dates. Since the last project my group had problems with our dates and it got out of hand and led to confusion. Being alone also give the freedom of choice to where I don't have to get my partner permission to add something into the project since I'm the one in charge. It makes the production p...

A new project a new me

Image
My Name is Luke Mehrhoff and I attend Lauderdale Highschool and I am now starting my final task. My journey through the other two projects has been a exciting and memorable, with both films giving me experience and memories. So far these projects had open a new experience to me that I though I would never experience. I have learned so much since I started filming and I feel confident that I can produce an excellent film. I love the methods behind how movies are made from the CGI to the different techniques  used to create amazing shots. This project to me feels like a test, with the other two as practice tests, and I ready to put all that I have learned into my film. I love action war films as I am a history nerd and would love to make a war style film. Movies like Midway, Saving Private Ryan, and Hacksaw Ridges were some of my favorites. Movies had always had a place in my heart for they allow us to see a world never seen before to an escape from reality. I love being creati...

End of a saga

Wrapping up the film

Image
This music video allowed me to enhance my filming skills learned from the previous project. The song came to us while looking for upbeat song and a friend suggested "Break my strive" and we went with it.  Working on this has challenged be in more ways than I was expecting. Such as fitting filming time between my working schedule, since we couldn't film at school. This project was really fun as we had to get creative with it and had fun embarrassing each other with filming. Just like in the last project my ability to improve and adapt to any problem helped us save time and create a better video.  I did learn more cameraman techniques like filming at different angles and heights to create a better looking video. The member of my group was hard working and very understanding since due to my work schedule I had to cancel some filming days. I still need to get better with editing because again I wasn't to hands on at the end of the project. I did the filming of the whole ...

The end of a great video

Image
Today was the day we finally finished up the editing of our music video. The final product was better than we expected, from the acting to the camera work. Even though it had many flaws I felt as this project was a step up from the last film. This was my 3rd time ever filming so I had much experience and was hoping to learn more. Finishing up the editing process wasn't bad it was just a long process of cutting and coping. Again my job was not hands on but more of advisor helping him edit our video, and doing small adjustments. While finishing up the rest of the video we ran into the same problems as last time where some of the clips did not fit into the part of the song they needed to fit, so we had to fix it. Also, some of the clips sent into the computer corrupted and we had to delete the old ones and reinstall them again and it worked but the download took a while. Then with another stroke of bad luck we almost lost the entire project when the computer crash while we were tweak...

Wrapping it all up

Image
After finishing up filming we were now ready to start editing the music video. We got much of it done on this day. First we piled all the clips from the phone to the computer and then we placed them in our software iMovie to get started. I have an hp computer so I didn't have iMovie but my teammate did so we used his, we notice little details in our clips that we did not see before. Details like people in the back ground, and the lighting. The process was slow as is with editing from the small details to the finished product their is so much you can add. It was a grueling task of the same scene replaying over and over. Until we had an idea with what do do for the music video. My job wasn't hands on it was helping my group member cut clips and edit them. We did have a few problems with the system not working and his phone being slow. In the end we fixed it by connecting the computer directly to the phone speeding it up. Also, some of the clips needed to be edited down so it wou...

Filming at the park

Image
Today was the day we finished up the filming process and got a move on. I was the camera man, and we were trying to figure out the best location to do. We were at the closest park which provided the best scenery for our video. Also, the actress we needed was with us so we could do the rest of the scenes, along with another male actor to play another role. This music video had a lot of reused scenes with running at the camera and having many two shots. I again opted to not be in the video due to the fact that I'm a terrible actor who can’t keep a straight face. I was the director and cameraman, so I was the one in charge. My job was to find the spots to film in the park and crowd control. Figuring out what camera angles to use in each scene when they needed to be changed. While filming we encountered some problems like a group of people close to our set playing soccer and they almost messed up our shot by over kicking the ball. In addition, many scenes had us laughing too much to ...
